Nal'ibali - It starts with a story...

We are all born to tell stories, memorise and make sense of life in story form. So, the Nal'ibali Reading-for-Enjoyment initiative uses the power of stories -- oral and written, and in many languages -- to inspire children to want to read and write. For more info, visit www.nalibali.org.

The national beneficiary chosen for the 2016 Corporate Quiz is Nal’ibali, which in isiXhosa means “here’s the story”. Nal’ibali is a national reading-for-enjoyment campaign sparking children’s potential through storytelling and reading. Nal’ibali assist in establishing reading clubs as well as create and distribute free reading supplements to communities throughout South Africa.  Children who read regularly and hear engaging stories, in languages they understand, are well prepared and motivated to learn to read and write. We hope to raise funds for Nal’ibali’s reading supplement printouts ensuring stories and reading become a part of everyday life for Children in South Africa.

The Nal’ibali campaign epitomises J.K Rowling’s belief that books are a uniquely portable magic and that the power of storytelling results in children who love to read and write and thus attain educational success. With this in mind, the 2016 Corporate Quiz has been magically transformed into an evening of witchcraft and wizardry so be prepared to step onto the Hogwarts Express and into a world of enchantment.
